We created boxes with a thickness of 22cm that precisely fit within the actual crosswalk, which spans a length of 4 meters. After placing and moving the boxes, we captured photographs and presented them in black and white.
During the filming, we encouraged the cast members to enthusiastically jump over the boxes with the determination to surpass the height they personally perceived. This signifies that conceptual thickness is not universally standardized. By capturing a scene of simultaneously leaping over the fourth crosswalk, we edited the footage to allow the audience to imagine the unseen thickness of the crosswalk. Although the zebra crossing is merely painted on the ground with simple paint, we have agreed to the promise of crossing it. The 22cm thickness represents a metaphor for the norms that surround us, which require us to reexamine and reconsider such established conventions in our surroundings.
